About MechaMatic

An engineering company that happens to own welding machines

MechaMatic was set up to close a gap we kept running into: plants in Egypt and the wider region could buy fabrication locally, or buy engineering from abroad, but rarely both from the same place. We do the calculation and the weld under one roof.

Our approach

We would rather ask an awkward question than quote a wrong number

Most of the equipment failures we are called in to look at were designed to the wrong assumption, not built to the wrong tolerance. A cooler sized for an ambient that Egypt exceeds every summer. An exchanger with fouling factors so generous the tubes silt up. A mixer shaft sized on torque and run near its critical speed.

So we start by checking that the data closes. If your heat balance does not add up, or the design ambient looks optimistic, we will tell you before we quote — not after commissioning.

  • Design first. Thermal and mechanical calculations before any steel is ordered.
  • Detail for maintenance. Equipment that cannot be cleaned, vented or drained will fail early, whatever the code says.
  • Show the working. You receive the calculations, the weld map, the heat numbers and the test records.
  • Say what we do not know. If a duty is outside our experience we will say so and point you somewhere better.

Why local matters

Lead time and spare parts are engineering decisions too

A technically perfect exchanger that takes nine months to arrive and needs a European spare parts order is not the right answer for a plant in Suez or Alexandria.

Shorter lead times

No ocean freight, no customs clearance on the finished unit, no waiting for a slot in a European fabricator's queue.

Engineers you can visit

Design review across a table instead of across time zones. If the nozzle orientation is wrong, we can change it that afternoon.

Spares that exist locally

Gaskets, tubes, fasteners and bundles held to the same drawings we built from, so a turnaround does not wait on an import licence.

Designed for regional conditions

High summer ambient, dust and sand fouling, variable cooling water quality — the conditions our own plants actually run in.

Site support

We can survey the existing equipment, take our own measurements and support installation and commissioning.

Local currency, local terms

Commercially simpler for Egyptian buyers, without the FX exposure of an imported capital purchase.

Capability

What we cover, end to end

Process & thermal engineering

Heat and mass balance checks, thermal rating of exchangers, jacket and coil duty calculations, agitator power and blend-time selection, vessel sizing on residence time and settling velocity.

Mechanical design

Pressure part calculations to ASME VIII Div. 1 and EN 13445, tubesheet and flange design, nozzle reinforcement, support and anchor bolt design, wind and seismic checks, shaft and critical speed analysis.

Detailing & 3D modelling

General arrangement and fabrication drawings, nozzle orientation, weld details, and 3D models and animations for design review — see our design library.

Fabrication

Cutting, rolling, pressing, machining and welding to qualified procedures, tube expansion and welding, heat treatment, surface preparation and coating.

Quality & testing

Inspection and test plans, non-destructive examination, hydrostatic and pneumatic testing, material traceability and a complete documentation dossier.

Service & retrofit

Site surveys, re-rating of existing equipment, retubing, repair and modification with the calculations to support the change.
